The stages of the 9th Starcup competition include five tests: written test (35 points), treasure map (15 points), observational test (35 points), oral test (15 points) and sketch (10 points). The participants first answer the four-choice and descriptive questions of the written test, then they solve a puzzle related to the sky above them in the treasure map test. In the observation test, they identify a list of deep sky objects with their observation tools and answer a few short astronomical questions.

The 9th Star Cup will be held on 15th and 16th of Shahrivar 1403 in Bahram Palace Caravanserai.

The oral test ends with questions about the principles of sky surveying and magnitude measurement, and finally, the sketch test ends with a drawing of a celestial object. After evaluating all the stages, the judges will announce the winners in the closing ceremony on the morning of Friday 16 September.

The Launchpad section is also designed for enthusiasts who want to get a start-up experience without participating in a competitive environment. Participants in this section, whose main goal is to increase people’s knowledge and skills, are stationed in a place far from the main competition and answer questions under the guidance of instructors. Launchpad includes three sections: written test, treasure map and observation.
