Doctors: It is not acceptable to continue filtering

This evening, Tuesday, November 22, the second meeting of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace in the 14th government was held with the presence of the president and members of this council. In this meeting, Masoud Mezikian has ordered the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Cyber Space to form a working group to urgently examine the various aspects of filtering.

The president considered “people’s satisfaction” as a criterion in decision-making and said: “I believe that we cannot run the country without considering people’s satisfaction and based solely on our own assumptions, and therefore people’s satisfaction should be the focus of our decisions.”

Doctors called filtering as one of the examples of people’s dissatisfaction and pointed out the necessity of its correction:

While emphasizing the necessity of developing governance in the virtual space in order to prevent its harm, we believe that the continuation of this process is not acceptable due to the creation of many dissatisfactions for the people, therefore, in order to correct this process, all governing institutions must come to a common language and view.

Investigating various aspects of filtering by forming a working group and presenting the results of this expert review in the next session of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace is an action that the president has ordered to deal with the filtering situation.

Although the people and the media expect from the meetings of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace chaired by Masoud Mezikian, whose removal of filtering was one of his main election promises, to deal with the issue of filtering in an efficient manner, but in the first meeting of this council in the 14th government of the president, he only ordered to deal with He had discussed with the filter sellers and in this meeting he only ordered to check the different aspects of filtering.

Of course, as the Minister of Communications had previously announced, the President had ordered a review of the Internet situation some time ago and the Ministry of Communications has followed it up, it seems that the issue of removing the filtering of international platforms has not been addressed until today, which is about four months. Since the 14th government came to power, it has remained to the extent of issuing an order to review the filtering situation.
