Amazon shuts down “Pro Clothing” program; Shopping with the help of augmented reality and smart offers
Amazon has decided to discontinue the Prime Try Before You Buy program. The program allowed Prime members to try on clothes before paying. This service will be unavailable until January 31, 2025 (Bahan 12, 1403).
Maxine TagayAmazon’s spokesperson stated that the reason for stopping the “Pro Dress” program is the low use of this service by users and their tendency towards new features based on Amazon’s artificial intelligence. According to Tagay, the app was only available for a “limited number of items” and users are increasingly using new AI features to make purchasing decisions.
According to TheInformation, features such as the “virtual test using augmented reality” feature, which displays 3D models of shoes from certain brands on the feet using a smartphone camera, are among the features of artificial intelligence for buying clothes. Tagai also mentioned personalized size recommendations based on large language models (LLMs), which optimize clothing size recommendations based on customer feedback.
Amazon’s Pro Clothing program was first launched in 2018 as Amazon Wardrobe for all Prime members, allowing users to order up to 6 items, try them on for 7 days, and return the rest after purchasing the right option. The system was similar to Stitch Fix’s custom clothing selection service, but a large part of the program was related to product returns, which Amazon was trying to reduce.
