Microsoft’s photography contest to choose Windows wallpaper

When it comes to Windows wallpapers, there is no more legendary image than Bliss, the default background image in Windows XP operating system. Charles Aurier (Charles O’Rear) got it, it won’t.

It is difficult to fill such a niche, but seven photographers in seven different corners of the world tried to follow in Aurier’s footsteps by taking fascinating pictures of nature. Microsoft’s goal with this project is to create a memorable and inspiring wallpaper, similar to the famous image of Windows XP. Microsoft has chosen these images to show better quality and visual experience in the Surface series; Of course, it is possible that the images can be used more widely for Windows.
