Google has won a small but important victory in its legal battle with Epic Games. According to the report of the Verge website, the judge in the case has suspended all but one part of the original ruling to give Google enough time. This decision may not seem so important at first glance; But according to the court ruling, Google may not be forced to open the doors of the Play Store for years.

At the end of last year, the jury of the court announced that Google’s online store has become a monopolistic platform and should host significant changes. In addition to Judge Donato’s ruling, Google has also appealed the jury verdict to the appeals court.

At first glance, the temporary suspension of Judge Donato’s ruling gives Google relatively little time; But maybe we will see its extension later. Judge Donato has reportedly said he expects the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals to extend the stay. Judge Donato himself has refused to do such a thing.

One of the important parts of Judge Donato’s initial ruling still needs to be implemented by November 11th. From that date until November 1, 2027 (Aban 10, 1406), Google is not allowed to prevent the default installation of online stores on devices by signing contracts with operators or smartphone manufacturers.

If Judge Donato’s sentence was not suspended, Google would have had to cancel the compulsion to use the Play Billing system from the 11th of November this year and eliminate the incentives of developers to encourage them to use the Play Store.

Judge Donato initially said that Google has only one month to modify the Play Store structure; But Google asked the court to take 90 days like Apple. Thanks to the suspension of the ruling, Google can now delay the implementation of the Play Store changes as long as possible.
