According to a new report, Xiaomi has decided to start producing its own mobile chips from next year, taking inspiration from the Tensor chips used in Google phones.
Usually, the best Android phones use Qualcomm or MediaTek processors. Exynos processors are also used in some regional and mid-range Samsung phone models.
One of the big exceptions in this field is Google’s Tensor chip, which has been used in recent Pixel phone models from the Pixel 6 series onwards. So far, four generations of Tensor were rooted in Samsung Exynos; But with Google planning to switch to TSMC technology in the Tensor G5 and G6, a completely custom design of these processors is on the way, and it looks like Google won’t be alone on this path.
