Will 2025 Android flagships become more expensive? A significant increase in the production cost of Snapdragon 8 generation 4 and Dimension 9400
DigitalChatStation, a seasoned tech whistleblower, claims that the next generation of Qualcomm and MediaTek flagship processors will likely be priced higher than before.
According to DCS, the reason for the price increase is the use of TSMC’s advanced N3E lithography. The use of this lithography will probably increase the price of the processor by 20% and thus increase the price of the phone.
It is estimated that the price of Snapdragon 8 generation 4 and Dimensity 9400 will reach 190 and 144 dollars, respectively. Manufacturers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek do not usually announce the prices of their products, but the 20% increase shows that the Dimensity 9300 is currently priced at around $124 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is priced at $152.
It is not the first time that we hear about the price increase of flagship mobile processors. In June (June and July), Ming-Chi Kuothe well-known analyst predicted a 25-30% increase in the price of the processor.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (or possibly called Snapdragon 8 Elite) is expected to have major changes. This system-on-chip will be Qualcomm’s first mobile chip to use Oryon cores. The leaked benchmarks report a significant improvement in the performance of the chip.
On the other hand, Dimension 9400 is supposed to use very powerful Cortex-X925 cores. MediaTek’s flagship chip recently recorded the highest score in the Android benchmark.
