According to Motor1, the Korean luxury brand Genesis has taken a big step towards the development of the motor racing sector by announcing its participation in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech races in North America. With the unveiling of the GMR-001 racing car, which was designed according to the LMDh rules, this brand revealed its intention to participate in the highest level of racing such as Le Mans.
The LMDh rules, a joint collaboration between IMSA and the ACO (Le Mans Organizing Organisation), allow manufacturers to compete at the highest level of motor racing at a lower cost than similar events. In these rules, manufacturers must use a common chassis and hybrid components such as battery, engine and gearbox are also specified in advance. Genesis is collaborating with the French company Eureka to build the GMR-001 supercar chassis.
