The Apple App Store in the European Union will soon display the addresses and contact numbers of application developers.

Apple has warned app developers about another controversial change planned for the EU App Store. Starting in October, developers known as Traders in the region will be required to provide their address and phone number, and that information will now be publicly available on the EU App Store.

The recent change to the App Store for developers living in the EU is not Apple’s decision, but rather a requirement from the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA). The DSA requires companies like Apple to verify and display to users the contact information of any developer who distributes an app.

According to Apple, according to the rules of the European Union, a developer is considered a trader when he earns money through his application. This includes direct revenue from sales on the App Store as well as in-app purchases or advertising. In other words, only those who distribute free, ad-free programs are not required to provide such information.

As requested by the DSA, developers working in person must also provide their address or PO box, phone number and email address to publish on the EU App Store. For organizations, only a phone number and email address are required. Users will see this information right below the description of each application in the App Store.

Unsurprisingly, many developers are unhappy with the recent change to the App Store in the EU. Many small developers do not have a specific phone number or address for their work and will have to provide personal information, and on the other hand, Apple cannot do much about this.

From October 16, 2024 (25 Mehr 1403), every developer must provide their contact information and address to register a new application or update their apps in the App Store. Developers who do not provide this information to Apple by February 17, 2025 (29 February 1403), their application will be removed from the App Store in the European Union.
