In an official statement, YouTube announced three new trial features for YouTube Premium subscribers. These features are available now, but only for a limited time.
The first feature is called sleep timer. As the name suggests, this feature allows users to set a specific time after which YouTube will automatically turn off. Users can choose an option between 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes. This feature is very useful for those who listen to relaxing music or podcasts while sleeping. The timer feature can be enabled from the settings menu at the bottom of the video (in the form of a gear) on both mobile and desktop platforms.
The next feature is called Dream Screen. YouTube says that this feature is intended for content producers. Dream Screen is only available on the mobile app and allows users to create green screen backgrounds for their videos with the help of artificial intelligence. To access this feature, first open the Shorts camera, tap the green screen, and then select the sparkle button. Note that to use this feature, you must use English language, as other languages are not currently supported.
The latest feature, available exclusively on mobile, is designed to answer any question you might have about a video. This feature works without interrupting the video. It looks like not all videos will feature the feature, but for videos that are eligible, there will be an “Ask” section right below the video, where users can choose from predefined options or enter their own new questions.
Remember that these features are available for a limited time. The sleep timer will be available until September 2 (September 12, 1403), the Dream Screen feature will be available until August 20 (August 30, 1403) and the question and answer feature about the currently playing video will be available until August 21 (August 31, 1403).
