MacRumors report shows that Health Canada has approved sleep apnea detection in watchOS11 for the Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
The sleep apnea detection feature launched earlier this month in the US and more than 150 other countries and territories. Apple can now make this feature available to Canadian users as well.
Apple says its sleep apnea detection feature uses advanced machine learning and extensive data sets from developed and validated clinical trials.
Using the three Apple Watch models that have received the sleep apnea detection feature, it is possible to detect moderate to severe sleep apnea in adults who have not previously suffered from this disease.
Users can see breathing irregularities during the night through the Health application. The respiratory status of users is classified into two categories: more than normal and normal.
