Maybe Samsung will drop the base model Galaxy S26

According to a new rumor, the Galaxy S26 series will probably only come in Plus and Ultra models, and there will be no regular model.

If the rumor turns out to be true, we will see a repeat of the Galaxy Tab S10 series strategy for Samsung’s flagship phones. The Galaxy Tab S10 series is released in Plus and Ultra models, leaving aside the normal model.

Currently, the normal and Plus Galaxy S24 models are very similar except for the screen size, battery capacity, charging power and storage space. In this way, Samsung’s possible decision may be made with the aim of simplifying its product portfolio.

According to SamMobile, looking back, we can see that in general, smaller smartphones did not last long in the market; However, a number of Android enthusiasts have always lamented the gradual decline in popularity of compact phones.

The reason for the possible removal of the basic Galaxy S26 model can be found in the increasing desire of users to buy larger and more expensive phones.

The recently introduced Galaxy S24 FE has a bigger screen than before and the price has increased to close the gap with Samsung’s flagships. Maybe the FE model in the future (eg Galaxy S26 FE) will play the role of Samsung’s cheapest flagship. For now, nothing is clear and we have to see if this rumor turns into reality or not.
