Mass production of Apple’s M5 chips began; Focus on improving performance in the field of artificial intelligence

Apple’s production partners have begun the Apple M5 chip processing process, according to Etnews. These chips are based on a three -nanometer Lithography (N3P) TSC, which promises a 5 % increase in performance and improves energy consumption by 5 %.

Apple is expected to focus on artificial intelligence performance in its new generation. The M4 neural motor has a functional performance of 2 trillion operations, which is a significant increase compared to the M3 neural engine with 2 tops.

Some M5 models will use a new technology called System-On-Integrated-Chips-Molding-Horizontal (SOIC-MH), which is a way to accumulate chips and connect them to copper connectors. The new method will perform better by improving thermal conductivity.

The M5 will change how the chip is installed on the motherboard. Improvement in the sticky layer that holds the chips together and installs them on the board allows more chips to pick up each other. For example, in the design of smartphones, RAM usually falls directly on the chip.

It is said that the chip package will be carried out by several companies: Ase (Taiwan), Amkor (US) and JCET (China).

The conventional M5 is likely to be introduced in the second half of this year at the new generation iPad Pro. Apple also has the models of Peru, Max and Ultra. The M5 Pro will probably be the first chip to use the SOIC-MH accumulation.
