As the electric car market is hot in Australia today, Kia is entering the Australian market with the new EV5 electric SUV. This SUV has a competitive price and features suitable for families. Kia, which is known for producing cars with great value for money, is directly challenging the Tesla Model Y with the introduction of the Kia EV5.
Kia EV5 was first unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show last year. This car was initially planned for summer release in markets outside of China; But software modifications caused a delay in this process.
Australian car buyers don’t need to wait long; Because Kia has announced that the EV5 SUV will arrive in dealerships this month with a base price of AU$56,770 (US$38,155). The EV5 is cheaper than the Tesla Model Y, which is sold in the country with a base price of $58,700.
Kia EV5 will be available in Air, Earth and GT-Line models. Buyers have two options for the battery. The standard battery with a capacity of 64.2 kWh offers a range of up to 400 km. For those who need more range, there is a larger 88.1kWh battery that will have a range of up to 555km per charge.
Length, width and height of EV5 are 4,615, 1,875 and 1,715 mm respectively. With these numbers, Kia EV5 has more compact dimensions than Tesla Model Y with length, width and height of 4,750, 1,921 and 1,624 mm respectively. Despite the difference in dimensions, the EV5 offers a more functional interior.
Kia Khodro EV5 has been equipped with the latest information and entertainment system, which has a dual 12.3-inch screen and a screen for the navigation system. The ccNC system also offers a user-friendly interface and a wide range of connectivity options.
