When Google introduced tab groups to Google Chrome on Android, the feature included an option that allowed users to share a group of tabs with others. Google removed this feature in the version released in 2021.
Now, a whistleblower named Leopeva64 has published screenshots on X that show that Google plans to provide users with the ability to send groups of Chrome tabs with the new update of the Chrome application. Previously, users could access the option to send a group of tabs by selecting a group of tabs and opening the three-dot menu.
Google will probably create a dedicated button for the ability to send groups of tabs, which will make it easier to access this feature. This option will be placed next to the options to create a new tab and the three-dot menu. By selecting the option of sending tab groups, the window of inviting people will be shown. Users only need to enter the e-mail address of the desired person to invite others.
When the recipient accepts the invitation, the groups tab will show the shared group with the recipient’s profile picture, and if the person has not selected a picture for their profile, the first letter of the user’s name will be displayed in a circle. On the home page of Chrome tabs, a capsule-shaped symbol is added to the upper part of the group tab.
The three-point menu in the groups tab contains four more options that allow users to manage sharing, review recent activities, close and open the group, and delete and leave the group.
The ability to send groups of Chrome tabs cannot be used in the Canary version of Google Chrome; Therefore, this feature may be available to users later and with more changes.
