The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to be Samsung’s first foldable smartphone to use the Exynos chip. Since the launch of the Galaxy Fold in 2019, Samsung has exclusively used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. But apparently the Korean company has decided to change this practice.
A few months ago, Samsung officially mentioned the Exynos 2500 chip in its earnings report. The company was initially expected to use the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, which will be released in markets outside of North America, South Korea, and China. But this report showed that Samsung has not yet been able to achieve a suitable efficiency to equip millions of Galaxy S25 series phones.
A report from TheElec claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be equipped with the Exynos 2500 chip. This Korean source reports that it “confirmed the matter of equipping the Z Flip 7 with the Exynos 2500 through a senior Samsung Electronics official.”
It is said that Samsung plans to produce 3 million units of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is only 1% of Samsung’s annual sales. As the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 are expected to launch in mid-2025, Samsung has plenty of time to improve the performance of the first chip. It will have its own 3 nm flagship.
