Fortnite returned to the App Store on the Epic Store platform; Only in the EU

According to the official statement of Epic Games, four years after Apple removed the Fortnite game from the App Store, this game has returned to the iOS operating system only in the European Union and through the new Epic App Store.

Fortnite is now available through the new version of the Epic Games Store for iPhone and the third-party store AltStore PAL. The company also announced that the Epic Games Store has been launched today for all Android users. The launch comes after years of legal wrangling between Epic and Apple, thanks to regulatory changes brought about by the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, which forced Apple to allow other app stores to operate.

Tim Sweeney“We are grateful to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) for launching the Epic Games App Store and making our games available to iOS users in Europe,” said Epic Games CEO about the return of Fortnite to iPhone owners. “Now European iOS users and all Android users can access our Store and games as they always have on unrestricted platforms like PC.”

Among the games available in the Epic Games Store of the iOS operating system, we can mention Fortnite and Fall Guys; However, this company plans to increase its game titles by the end of the year. Epic Games also plans to bring its games to iOS through AltStore PAL and to Android through ONE Store in order to reach the record of 100 million mobile downloads before the end of the year.

While these changes have been implemented in Europe, it is not yet clear whether they will be extended to other regions. However, Epic Games’ actions reflect the company’s ongoing efforts to create a freer and more competitive app market. These changes can ultimately benefit users and developers and help create a more open and flexible digital environment.
