Big changes on the way to European iPhones: from the possibility of removing the App Store to changing the default call software
iPhone and iPad users in the European Union will soon be able to change the default software for calling, messaging, keyboard, password management and more, according to Apple’s new software policies page. Apple says these options will enter the settings menu before the end of this year in the form of a new Default Apps page.
According to the official statement, in the spring of next year, Apple will allow users to change the default routing, translation and filtering of spam calls. iPhone users in Europe will also be able to remove the App Store, Apple Messages, Apple Camera, Apple Photos and Safari from their phone; A feature that has never been offered in any Apple device. Apple will not issue permission to remove Settings and Phone software.
Apple has said that the iPhone’s browser selection page in the EU will be revamped soon (it’s the page that European users see when they first open Safari).
Due to the new changes, users will be able to install browsers such as Firefox and Chrome on the same initial page.
After the new update is released, European Apple users who have made Safari their default browser will need to search through a list of web browsing software to change the default browser if desired.
Additionally, each app’s App Store page description will be displayed on the browser’s selection screen. Apple says developers will have access to more information about how the browser’s selection screen works.
Apple now allows users in the European Union to change their default web browsing and email software. The company has opened the doors of the iPhone to alternative stores of the App Store.
