Apple fell behind Vivo and Huawei in the Chinese mobile market

According to Canalys, Apple handed over the leadership of China’s mobile market to two brands, Vivo and Huawei. In the third quarter of 2024, Apple managed to get the largest share of phone purchases among the Chinese, but it was pulled down by two domestic brands in the final season of the year.

Huawei ranked second in the third quarter of 2024 and was considered a competitor of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the Pure 70 phone. However, in the following season, Vivo managed to surpass both brands and took 17% of the market share. Huawei with 16% and Apple with 15% sat in the second and third places, respectively.

Kanalis says that Apple saw sales decline in the Chinese market in the fourth quarter of 2024 because the iPhone 16 series phones lacked AI-based capabilities. This made the Apple phone less attractive to buyers; Especially considering that Chinese phones are full of artificial intelligence features.

Ming Chi Kuoa well-known analyst, had previously said that despite the constant volume of mobile sales in China, the amount of iPhone purchases in this country in December 2024 (Azar and Day) has decreased by 10 to 12 percent compared to the previous year. He also considers the reason for this to be the lack of innovation in the latest iPhone models.
