Apple and Samsung had the same share of the global mobile market in the third quarter of 2024; Close competition with Xiaomi
Mobile phone experts claim that the global smartphone market has grown in the third quarter of 2024 and attribute this growth to the introduction of new models and the cycle of replacing these phones with older phones. With this growth, the competition between the top five global smartphone brands is also intensifying.
In the third quarter of 2024, Samsung and Apple had almost equal market share. Each company had about 18 percent of the global smartphone market, and Samsung barely managed to hold onto the number one spot.
Last year, Samsung had 21% of the market and this number reached 17% for Apple. According to Canalys, Apple has experienced the highest sales volume to date in the third quarter of 2024. The company’s success was due to the high demand for the iPhone 15 series and older models.
The global share of Xiaomi also increased by 1% and has now reached 14% and has won the third place after Samsung and Apple. Oppo and Vivo also had an almost equal share of the market with 9% and competed for the fourth place.
The competition and sales volumes of all 5 prominent mobile phone brands have intensified in the third quarter of 2024; But Apple and Samsung still have a large share of the market. As a result, it is expected that these two brands will be most ready to accept new problems in the future.
Analysts believe that as market conditions improve, mobile phone manufacturers will face more legal obstacles related to the environment. Major manufacturing companies with effective supply chains, inventory, and optimal marketing and sales will have the best chance of leading the global sector.
Having the widest supply chain and the level of inventory and proper customer support, Samsung has taken the first place in the Android world and competes closely with Apple, which has almost the same conditions.
As market conditions improve, the upcoming holiday shopping season will be a test for each major manufacturer to demonstrate their ability to manage inventory and global supply for their potentially best-selling mobile products.
