Mercedes-Benz has created a new revenue stream for itself by lending AMG engines to other automakers. The V12 engine in the Pagani Utopia, the V8 engine in several Aston Martin models and a four-cylinder engine in the Lotus Emira are all examples of this.
Did you know that several supercars also borrow their plug-in hybrid technology from Mercedes-Benz; But Mercedes-Benz or AMG have not technically developed this technology.
According to Motor1, Mercedes-Benz has been the owner of Yasa since 2021, and Yasa engines have been installed on both the supercars Lamborghini Revoleto with a V12 engine and Temarario with a V8 engine. The internal combustion engine of these two models was developed by Volkswagen Group; But the two electric motors installed in the front axle are designed by Yasa. The surprising thing is that Mercedes-Benz still doesn’t sell a car with Yasa-developed systems.
Mercedes-Benz and its dedicated tuner, AMG, are working on a dedicated platform called AMG.EA. The company plans to build a replacement for the AMG GT Four-Door Coupe sports sedan and a new SUV on its new platform.
