Instagram announced the update of the direct section of this popular social network. The new update will help improve the user experience for those users who receive a lot of messages.
Instagram’s new feature helps users such as content producers and influencers to categorize and filter incoming messages. Based on user settings, received messages are no longer displayed on the main page of Instagram Direct.
The new Instagram Direct feature allows content producers and famous people to categorize incoming messages based on the number of followers, verified Instagram accounts, brands, content creators and several other parameters.
An update to Instagram Direct will allow people who receive a lot of messages to prioritize the messages they receive. In this way, the messages that are important to the user and have a great impact on their relationships and business will be shown before other messages.
A separate section called Story Replies will also be added to Instagram Direct so that messages related to stories are displayed separately from other messages. Instagram’s decision to transform the Direct section came after content creators and celebrities complained about the difficulty of dealing with the Direct section.
Adam Mussery“Dealing with Instagram’s inbox can be overwhelming,” the Instagram boss said in a post. As a result, we put filters in this section so that the most important messages from the user’s point of view are displayed before other messages. “The Instagram Direct section needs more changes to improve, but this decision will be a small step to improve the situation.”
Categorizing and filtering Instagram Direct will be visible under the title Sort & Filter at the beginning of this section. The user can filter the received messages with parameters such as the number of followers of the message sender or giving priority to newer messages. This helps the user to more easily see the messages sent by brands and important people about business ideas.
It will be possible to activate more settings such as authenticated accounts, accounts related to businesses and content creators, or even display accounts with a certain number of followers. Instagram says that it will further develop the Direct section in the future.
The Meta company had previously also applied changes to the filter of incoming messages in the WhatsApp messenger.
