Elon Musk At the Cybercube unveiling ceremony, Tesla’s robotic taxi showed an image that was very similar to a scene from the movie Blade Runner 2049. This similarity led Alcon Entertainment, the film’s producer, to accuse Musk and Tesla of copyright infringement.
According to the New York Times, Alcon Entertainment claims that Musk used images that were created with artificial intelligence and strongly resemble movie scenes; including an image that is very similar to Ryan Gosling has
Alcon Entertainment called Tesla’s use of artificial intelligence to create images almost identical to movie scenes a “biased and intentional act.” The company argues that by associating the introduction of Cybercube with the film, Tesla has made the event more attractive to a global audience and illegally used the “Blade Runner 2049” brand to sell more of its cars.
Alcon has claimed in its lawsuit that Tesla’s action had a significant financial impact on the company. He has described the actions of Musk’s company as “great economic theft”. The reason for this claim is Alcon’s current negotiations with potential automotive partners for the Blade Runner 2099 TV series.
Alcon has considered Musk’s rambunctious, political, unstable and arbitrary behavior, which sometimes tends towards hatred, as a reason for any conservative brand to stay away from working with Tesla. The company has clearly stated that it is against any cooperation with Musk, and Musk himself was personally aware of the rejection of Alcon’s request.
