Samsung: Some Galaxy AI features may become paid in 2025

Samsung has been investing heavily in artificial intelligence since the beginning of this year. Galaxy AI is touted as one of the core features of Galaxy devices and could create a new revenue model for the Korean tech giant. This year, Samsung has indirectly hinted that in the near future, some Galaxy AI features may be available only with the purchase of a subscription service.

In the press releases for the Galaxy Tab S10 series and the Galaxy S24 FE, there are notes about the future of Galaxy AI. “Some of our AI features may be offered with a paid subscription in late 2025,” Samsung says. This message is similar to the announcement that the said company shared after the Galaxy S24 launch and a few days before the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch.

Samsung’s statement never specified exactly which AI features the company will offer as a paid subscription starting next year. Hun Pakthe head of Samsung Health, said earlier this year that his company is considering offering a subscription service for the Health app.

It seems that Samsung sees the way forward in offering paid AI services. However, it remains to be seen which Galaxy AI tools will be available to users with a paid subscription and which will be free.

Most Galaxy AI tools use Google technologies; Therefore, it is possible that the Internet search giant also wants to commercialize its AI tools. In this case, Samsung should follow the same path.
