Intel is about to receive $8.5 billion in government funding

According to the Financial Times, negotiations between Intel and the US government on the $8.5 billion in CHIPS Act aid are at an advanced stage, and it is possible that Blue Team will start receiving its direct funds before the end of 2024.

Intel is the largest recipient of investment in the history of the US semiconductor industry. However, the company faced delays in funding because the White House reportedly wanted more information about Intel’s plans.

According to reports that Intel is thinking about reducing its assets, US officials are worried that the company will sell part of its business. Qualcomm is said to be considering buying part of Intel, but sources say such moves could affect Intel’s sensitive negotiations.

The CHIPS Act provides significant funding to Intel; Especially when the company is trying to survive. In addition to $8.5 billion in direct investment, Intel will receive $11 billion in loans and a 25 percent tax credit of up to $100 billion. The company has also received another 3 billion dollars to make military chips.
