The strike of Samsung India employees is likely to end soon

Samsung’s Indian workers went on indefinite strike earlier this month to demand higher wages, equal pay for workers with the same experience, an end to mandatory overtime, an eight-hour work schedule and union recognition. Now, almost 10 days later, there are developments in this regard, which indicate that their strike is likely to end soon.

India’s labor minister told NDTV that he is confident the issue between Samsung Electronics and its employees will be resolved soon. “We can fix this and we will as soon as possible,” he says. A few years ago, Foxconn workers raised the issue of sanitary food, water and shelter. Now we have built a large residential complex for them with a capacity of 18,000 people, so we will find a solution for the Samsung issue as well.”

An early end to the strike by Samsung’s Indian workers is of great importance to the company as India’s festive season begins soon; Where the demand for the South Korean technology giant’s products will increase greatly.

According to reports last week, Samsung will cut 10 percent of its workforce, or about 200 people, in India to cut costs and maintain profits amid declining consumer demand.
