Valve has released the official drivers for installing Windows on the Steam Deck handheld console
Steam Deck runs with SteamOS operating system by default and it provides the possibility of running computer games on this device and it is also possible to install Windows on it. Running Windows on Steam Deck used to be a fan-made project, but now Volvo has released its official and supported drivers for running Windows on Steam Deck.
On the Steam support site, Valve has mentioned the possibility of installing Windows on the Steam OLED deck. If you prefer Microsoft’s desktop operating system to SteamOS, you can now download an extensive collection of official drivers for all Steam Deck components from the Steam website.
Although it is perfectly possible to install Windows on Steam Deck, it is recommended that you do not do so. In fact, SteamOS is considered a very smooth and powerful operating system and is considered a better choice for gamers. However, some people tend to use this device for gaming and doing other things by installing Windows on Steam Deck.
Running Windows on portable devices is not such a bad idea. Microsoft is also doing its best to support smaller screens, and for example, it recently redesigned the Game Bar to better display on smaller screens. Of course, the Redmond-based tech giant needs to hurry, as Velo plans to release SteamOS for other handheld consoles, a move that could eventually push Windows out of the handheld realm.
